What to expect

Human beings have been gathering to drum, sing and make music together for thousands of years. Across cultures and generations, rhythm and voice have been used to celebrate, connect, heal, express, and simply be together. Now, people all over the world are rediscovering this ancient way of coming together. My Drum & Song Circles are born from a deep desire to express what needs to be heard, felt and released. Through the heartbeat of the drum, the resonance of the voice, chanting, singing and collective rhythm, we create a space where we can gently explore our inner landscape, move beyond our everyday boundaries and allow more of our wild, authentic selves to come forward. No musical experience is needed. There is nothing to get right and no performance to give. We listen, respond, breathe, sing, chant and drum together, allowing the rhythm to guide us. Sometimes the beat is gentle and meditative; sometimes it becomes powerful, primal and ecstatic. We follow what wants to emerge. The circle is a place to unite and play — to connect with ourselves, with one another, with the earth and with something larger than ourselves. We hold space for each person and honour the unique sound and energy they bring. There is power in drumming alone, but when many people gather and their rhythms, voices and intentions combine, something extraordinary can happen. Individual beats become one pulse. Individual voices become one song. What begins as separate sounds can become a living, breathing field of rhythm, connection and presence. We drum for ourselves, for one another, for the world, and for the awakening of the magic that lives within each and every one of us. Please bring a drum or piece of percussion (rattles etc) with you if you have one, if not please contact us and let us know so we can make sure there is a spare for you.
