Rona Burt
Positive Parenting
Rona is a qualified teacher, a mother, and a lover of the natural world. She has a breadth of experience teaching mindfulness to both children and adults; from primary-aged kids and teenagers to students.
Qualified in delivering the Youth Mindfulness Programme in schools, Rona has been particularly struck by how mindfulness techniques can powerfully and positively impact young people, with children themselves reporting how mindfulness can help them to feel calmer, more relaxed and better able to enjoy life. Mindfulness pioneer Jon Kabat-Zinn, defined mindfulness as, “paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally.” Being outdoors in nature is the perfect environment to do that. Being guided to pay attention, to notice and be aware of our natural surroundings can enhance our wellbeing, bringing a host of physical, mental and emotional health benefits.
In her spare time, Rona enjoys spending time in the great outdoors; some of her most joyous experiences have been in the wild; mindfulness camping in Snowdonia and open-water swimming in lakes, rivers and the sea!
